BIOGRAPHIE: Calla Evans is a freelance photographer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including Mandate Magazine, the Charleston Gazette-Mail, and the Kelowna Daily Courier. She has also self-published two books: "This is What Democracy Looks Like": Six Years of Photographing and Protesting and Dispatch from Zambia. She has exhibited in Montreal, Toronto, and Kelowna. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Ryerson University. Calla's passion for story telling has taken her around North America, Africa, and the Middle East. In the summer of 2002 she photographed the work of Women for Change, and indigenous feminist NGO in Zambia, and also spent time at the Mother of Mercy Hospice and Guardian Angel School. Early in 2005 she headed to Palestine to photograph Palestinian, Israeli and Western feminist NGOs working against the security barrier being built by the Israeli government in an effort to separate Israel and Palestine. Besides foreign documentary photography, Calla is also a skilled commercial photographer, available for wedding and event photography as well as portraits and headshots.
